ST. PETER'S FIESTA
The St. Peter's Fiesta is a five day festival held
the last weekend of June honoring the patron saint of the
fisherman St. Peter. The
festival is put on by the Italian American community
of Gloucester, Massachusetts. The St. Peter's Fiesta
has been featured on The Discovery Channel, PBS's United
Tastes of America and Yankee Magazine. |

LANESVILLE HORRIBLES PARADE &
BONFIRE
Lanesville July 4 Extravaganza is a day to celebrate
with family, friends and neighbors. Along with the Whistleblowers
4K and Fun Run-Walk, runners and non-runners can enjoy
a barbecue and participate in traditional picnic games
such as sack races/tug-a-war, a raffle (prizes from local
Gloucester and Lanesville businesses), a scavenger hunt,
and a softball game. The day culminates in a bonfire in
Lanes Cove. |

BLACKBURN CHALLENGE The Blackburn Challenge is the east coast's premier open-water
human-powered boat competition. This 20 mile challenge
sends rowers, kayakers and canoeist around Cape Ann, Massachusetts. |

SIDEWALK DAYS
Main
Street welcomes artists, crafters, local musicians and
the public to join in a celebration of our thriving marketplace
Thursday, July 30, Friday, July 31 and August 1, 2009,
9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. For these hours
the street will be closed to vehicular traffic and overflowing

GLOUCESTER INTERNATIONAL DORY
RACE The
Gloucester International Dory Racing Committee is engaged
in the promotion and sponsorship of dory racing in the
United States of America. We are a non-profit organization
located in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Our program is over
50 years old and allows our members beautiful time on our
historic waterfront, while promoting maritime heritage
and healthy individual and family competition and fun. |

GLOUCESTER NEW ARTS FESTIVAL
The Gloucester New Arts Festival seeks
to integrate high-quality, innovative
art into the community and public space. We present work
that questions
in a rigorous way what it means to be alive, thinking, and
making art
in this day and age. This year’s festival is exploring
the theme of mapping
- mapping and memory, mapping and place, mapping and history
/ sociology
/ economics / the brain / what have you. |

SCHOONER FESTIVAL
The Mayor's Race for 100-foot schooners, races for other classes,
parade of sail, deck tours, public sails, and other maritime
activities. Sponsored by the Gloucester Schooner Festival
Committee and the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce, 283-1601.
Other highlights of the weekend include: Boatlight Parade
starting from Lobster Cove at dusk down the Annisquam River
to Gloucester Harbor on Saturday night, followed by grand
fireworks display, 9 p.m. |

seARTS PARTNER-WITH-AN-ARTIST
seARTS' mission is to draw on Cape Ann's rich cultural resources
and promote innovative collaborations that benefit both artists
and the local economy. Through seARTS' partnership with businesses
throughout Gloucester, we are able to showcase work from
artists from different backgrounds and disciplines. |

DOWNTOWN BLOCK PARTIES Beginning
in 2009 Downtown Block Parties are held one Saturday
night a month from June to September. Main Street is
closed to traffic, restaurants move their tables into
the street, and performers and artists entertain. Over
4000 people attended the most recent party. The photos below

TRIATHLON
Begun in 2009, the course offers athletes and spectators
alike a unique race venue that was designed to showcase
Gloucester's maritime history and natural beauty. Over 800
athletes competed in this year's event. |
